The Vitrova (Windy) cave

The entrance to this relatively small cavity 1,7km long is located in the forest near the village Korolivka, Borshchiv district. The cave consists of four parallel galleries, interconnected by few passages. In some areas falling boulders created small halls up to 3 meters wide. In the walls there are big inclusions of yellowish transparent crystallized gypsum. The extreme nothern gallery is a channel of a temporary underground stream. In many parts of the gallery the bottom is covered with fragments of gypsum, limestone, quartz, bones of domestic and wild animals. Obviously, the cave even today is still rinsed by rain and melt water, which flow inthere from the large karstic hollow, located in the west.
