Rafting on the White Cheremosh

The White Cheremosh River is located on the border between Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regions. From the rafting camp Rada Daraba to go there about 1.5-2 hours. Rafting on White Cheremosh begins near the village of Goloshin. Alloy section on the river 15-16 km. Depending on the water level and the training of the participants, the rafting can take from 40 minutes to 3 hours.

The White Cheremosh River is narrower than the Black Cheremosh River, rapid and dynamic. Thresholds on the river are often of the drain type. During the rafting there will be no time to relax a lot, because the obstacles happen one after another and have a very different character - it will be shivers, and oblique shafts, drains and oblique barrels. Altitude differences around 1 meterю. The most famous rapids on the White Cheremosh are the Gorby threshold, the Dudka threshold and the canyon-type threshold of the Gatekeeper.

Dudka's threshold is the longest, its length is about two kilometers. At the place where the river Probiyna flows into the White Cheremosh, a huge barrel is formed across the river. At this point you can linger a bit and try to pass the barrel several times. This will help you understand what a barrel is on a mountain river, how it holds and how to get out of it.

We finish rafting on White Cheremosh in front of the dam, near the village of Yablunytsia. Sometimes, with a sufficient water level, and if the participants of the rafting still have strength, we can surround the dam and raft a little lower.

Return to the rafting camp takes about 1-1.5 hours.

In terms of complexity, White Cheremosh is about the same as Black, but if the water level in the rivers rises, White Cheremosh immediately becomes an order of magnitude more difficult. If the water in the river is too little, then rafting on it is impossible. Therefore, the best time for rafting on the White Cheremosh is mid-April - early May, when the mountains are actively melting snow.
