Which rivers in Georgia are suitable for rafting?

It is rather easy. All the rivers you can see on the map with 10km scale are suitable for floating on the catamarans, rafts or canoe. Rivers are multiple, of different levels of difficulty and water level so anyone can choose river in Georgia according to own taste. All of them are supplied by high mountains with glaciers on the tops, which melt and feed rivers with water. Plenty on mountain massifs in Georgia is another reason for that. 

Main rivers for rafting in Georgia:

  • Rioni - the most interesting river. It includes different types of rapids on a picturesque landscapes. There are rapids of the 4-5 level of difficulty as well as ones of the 2-3 level of difficulty. The water level depends on rains, but is always enough for rafting.
  • Aragvi - is divided into White and Black one, or Hevsurets and Pshavskas. Rivers for rafting with average water level. The White one is suitable for floating on rafts and catamarans. Those rivers are locate nearby the Kazbek, so rafting on Aragvi can be combained with climbing to Kazbek.
  • Kura (Mktvari) - is central and big river in Georgia, which flows through the capital city Tbilisi. It takes origin on the high mountains near the boarder with Armenia and flows from the Georgia to the Azerbaijan. The higher part can be interesting for the kayakers, then the difficulty descent to the level of the plain river. Rafting is possible on the whole length.
  • Abasha - small and pure river that flows by picturesque meadows and canyons. This river in Georgia is very interesting for rafting. On its' bancs grows tangerines, persimmons and pomegranates which are the pleasant addition.
  • Inguri - the most difficult for rafting river in the Georgia.
